11th hour answer to prayer

Just as Chips was approaching the deadline to pay the full deposit on the Community Center buildings and we were starting to worry about what would happen since there wasn't nearly enough money for the deposit, Daran and Teresa came back from a meeting and told us that they had been given a monetary gift.  This gift was enough to cover the full deposit as well as providing funds to do all the renovations needed on the buildings. God is so incredible!

We are so thankful for God's gracious provision and our faith has been renewed. He takes care of us in spite of our human tendencies to worry and doubt. Thank you for your prayers and continued support. If you still want to be personally invested in the Community Center, there's still time as Chips has the balance of the loan to pay off. If you are interested in being a viable part in this ministry, you can donate at www.worldoutreach.org and then just drop us a note saying your donation is for the Community Center.

Mamabweni modeling show

Mary
Mamabweni was the last settlement we needed to visit to distribute clothes and blankets and we had a fun visit as you can see from the pictures, Mary decided to model some of the outfits we were giving away.

The ladies had just returned from working in the fields, their day starts at around 5a and ends at about 2p and for this they receive $3.50 a day and work six days a week They were very thankful for the clothes.

All the clothes and blankets that we were able to pass out did impact quite a few lives. However, we didn't even make a dent in all the Chips patients not to mention others who are in desperate need. It is hard when the need is so great that the little we do doesn't seem to be effective. We know that God cares deeply about each and every person and He uses us to make a difference in individual lives. Please continue to pray that we would have wisdom in assessing the needs and using our resources wisely to meet those needs.

Blankets and Clothes for everyone at Section 19!

We are so thankful for the 35 boxes of clothing from the Simunye church and the 60 wool blankets that Daren and Teresa brought up from a church in South Africa. The clothing and blankets came just in time as we are heading into our winter with very cold temperatures. We've spent several days passing out the items to the people in need.
At Section 19 we drew quite a grateful crowd as we started passing out the blankets and clothing.
While there were a lot of people, thankfully we had enough items to give everyone something! We returned with lots of empty boxes, Praise the Lord!
A Chips client gratefully receives warm blankets that will help him survive the cold winter. It was such a blessing to have all these donated items and to be able to make so many people's lives just a little better.

We just got word that we will be getting 100 more blankets from a church in Mbabane. While we are grateful indeed for these additional blankets, it would take 500 blankets to really be effective with how many Chips patients that we serve. We need to be careful to spread out the donated items so that one person/family doesn't receive more. If you would like to help provide more blankets and warm clothing for those in desperate need you can donate at the link below.

Siphewe needs a hug

Please pray for Siphewe. This precious girl has been through a lot in her short 10 years. Siphewe has HIV and didn't get on ARV's until she was 8, which wasn't nearly soon enough for the greatest success rate. Then at 9 years old, last September, she suffered a stroke and had to be hospitalized for quite some time. Her health has always been frail and seems to be worsening. Siphewe still suffers from weakness on her right side and most recently has developed a hearing loss which could be a result of her HIV medication. She has fallen so far behind in school that her father has been told not to send her back. We are checking into what schooling options are available for Siphewe and are assisting in getting a hearing specialist to come test her hearing to see if hearing aids would be beneficial. The second thing that may happen is that Siphewe will be evaluated for a special residential school.
Please pray for Siphewe, that she would come to know her Father in heaven and how much He cares for her. Pray for her healing and care. Also, please lift up her father as he tries to figure out what would be best for her and how to accomplish it. Additionally, would you pray for wisdom on our end to know how to come alongside Siphewe and her father to get the help and care that she so desperately needs.

Warm clothes gives a family hope

This Maphiveni family was so grateful to receive warm clothes and blankets.
Sebeneli (7 y/o) and her mom Siphewi share sweet grateful smiles with us as we give them some clothes.
Jaboliso (12 y/o) joins his family. Thankfully we had enough clothing items to give something for each of them. This is one family that has been changed by generous donations. If you would like to help provide warm clothing and blankets to those in need you can donate here www.WorldOutreach.org (instructions are below) and then just drop us a note stating the designation for your donation.

Does this look like a house to you?

It is home to Mkhulu Shandu.
Mkhulu was so appreciative to receive the warm blanket, especially considering the shape of his house (that is behind him). We didn't realize how big of a need that Shandu has for shelter. It's winter time and the temperatures can reach down to 6' C at night and 20' C during the day. His house/hut is made of sticks and mud and the back part of the house is falling down.
We do have volunteer labor available to reconstruct the house but it will cost $600 USD for the supplies to build an adequate house for his protection from the elements.
On Mkhulu Shandu's behalf, we ask you to prayerfully considering helping with this great need. If you are feeling led to help with Shandu's house, you can donate here www.WorldOutreach.org and just drop us a note stating your donation is for Shandu's house. Thank you for your generosity and care for this elderly man.

Babies to Elderly: Chips patients vary

Lunga, 3 months old, is one of our smallest Chips patients and receives lots of love from Mkhulu Stephens.
Ian and Mary talk with Mkhulu Shandu.
Mkhulu (which means grandfather) is in his 60's and has been a Chips patient for 2 years. He suffers from HIV and mal-nutrition. Last year, he had hip surgery and is having a hard time getting around. He lives alone, with neighbors checking on him at times. We were able to leave him a food parcel about a month ago.
Mkhulu Shandu had a couple of other needs, thick woolly socks to keep his feet warm in the cold winter nights and batteries for his alarm clock. He relies on his alarm clock to alert him when it's time to take his ARV's. The batteries, which we were able to give him, only cost $0.50 USD which isn't a lot of money until you don't have any money at all.
Our elderly are just as vulnerable as the young children. Providing medicine and food for the elderly and children are our prime focus.
